There are rumblings on the interwebs of a possible Dr. Strange movie written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Guillermo del Toro in 2012/2013... del Toro is doing The Hobbit, so we'll see how that works out, but I would LOVE to see Neil Gaiman's spin on Dr. Strange, if only for the fact that it would be Neil Gaiman, writting Dr. Strange, in live action... good, bad, or otherwise. *chuckles*

I took this picture right outside my work in downtown Seattle:

Normally, when it is snowing elsewhere in the region downtown is pretty much untouched; however as you can see here it was pretty darn heavy.

Slow day at ye olde office, although I’ve already had one really upset guy chew me out, which is always a fun and dandy way to start your first day back from a mini-vacation. I just have to remind myself that I only have to work three days before I get another two off.

The 4th was fun this year. Todd and I rambled over to Ryan’s house since he lives in prime fireworks territory. From the parking lot right across the street from his house we had a good view of both the Sound and Lake Union fireworks, so no matter which way you turned it was a light and sound spectacular. Ryan also has a very cuddly little orange cat whom I am completely enamored with named Touchstone. (I asked him “like Sabriel Touchstone?” and apparently I’m the first person to understand the name without being told – yay me! +nerd points)

Mostly though I sat around and did laundry and played Magic. A good way to spend a 4-day weekend.

Watched Overdrawn at the Memory Bank (MST3K version) again last night and now I’ve got the Public Television song stuck in my head...

When loving lovers love,
When loving love on wings of gold
In loving love we fly above,
Their love is such a soft and precious love.

It's love.

A lovely love is all we seem to need when
We're in loving love.
But then, it's gone,
It is nothing but a memory.

Memory.
Memory.
Memory.

And then it's back,
And loving lovers love again.

Who knows where it flies?
The lustrous love must rise,
Into the endless skies.
A new day shining bright,
Your heart has wings to fly,
And no one else can fly.
I really can't say why,
I really do like pie.
I know a couple of guys,
They really do like pie.

And loving lovers love as loving lovers love,
Golden, shimmering, lustrous, lovely, loving,
Loving love.

I’ll leave you with that.

I had an interesting (read: AMAZING!!!) dream last night that I was hosting a game show in Japan called "Nerd House". It was a weird mash-up of the Sasuke show (Ninja Warrior here in the US), Beat the Geeks, and a cosplay tournament.

♥ Contestants had to perform anime/nerd inspired physical challenges (lightsaber battle with nerf bats, D&D inspired foam dungeons, etc…).
♥ Then came trivia questions about anime & manga, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and other nerdy things that reside in my subconscious.
♥ This was followed by arcade and video game battles versus other contestants, such as Street Fighter, Katamari, and Halo.
♥ They then had to go through a thrift store (which looked eerily like the Value Village in Lake City, but with all Japanese employees) with an unlimited budget to put together a cosplay outfit of the character of their choice in under one hour. This lead into a cosplay contest judged by an almost Iron Chef inspired panel of "industry experts".

...

...why the hell I was hosting this, I don’t know, but at least I’m skinny in my dreams still, lol! Residual self image FTW! I think I've been watching too much Ninja Warrior, American Gladiators, and Iron Chef. Combine that with the about 15 new manga I've picked up recently...

And I would totally make that show if I won the lottery.

Gah, it was so cold this morning. I thought my fingers were going to need amputation by the time I got to the bus stop. Luckily the bus was five minutes early (which is just as early as I make a habit of getting to the stop) so I didn’t have to stand out there in the frigid arctic of Lake City.

Thanksgiving was good, if a bit boring. I got to see my cousins Sophie and Isabelle for the first time in almost four years, which was a bit of a start. Stop growing, damn kids! Makin’ me feel old n’ shit.

Our 360 died yesterday morning. With Rockband and Mass Effect and Assassin’s Creed sitting right in front of us it was too much of a tragedy for Todd and Billy to handle, so they went out and bought an Elite. Now we have 120 gigs of hard drive space for me to waste with a bazillion Oblivion saves. (I save an average of every five minutes when I’m playing that game.)

Now I just hope I can make it to five o’clock to stumble home, take a hot shower, and sleep.

What? Huh? I’m alive, I swear! *yawns*

Sorry about the long absence, things started getting busy and LJ is the first thing to fall.

So! An update on what I’ve been up to.

- I went to see Sonny Landreth at the Triple Door with my father. He is a surprisingly amazing (although understated) guitarist. The chicken at the Triple Door was to die for too. Got a Sonny t-shirt and CD autographed, which made me happy. He’s very bluesy, and his music doesn’t really come across well on CD, in my humble opinion. You really have to be there and watch his hands to appreciate his artistry. So good though.

- Mother took me to Contemporary Classics at the Pacific Northwest Ballet, which is a set of four short scenes.
The first one took some warming up for me to enjoy, but the second one, Kiss, was heartbreaking. It is a dance on wires, two dancers embracing and pushing each other away in sweeping motions above the stage. I am not ashamed to say I wept.
Act three is Caught… If I ever get to relive the experience of watching that again… it was spectacular. It is a single dancer who executes a series of jumps in time with a strobe light to make it look like he is ~floating~. I cried at this one too, simply because it was so beautiful and breathtaking that I couldn’t fathom, at the time, the emotions it evoked. It represented every dream where I have flown, well, ever. My god.
In The Upper Room, the last act, was lovely, but it had a hard time comparing to Kiss and Caught.

- Todd’s parents came up for his birthday. That was very nice, I love his mother. We spent some time just driving around (we were pointedly NOT LOST) and visited Bellevue Square for the Lego Store. I gave Billy a Lego Dumbledore which just seems right.
I also saw a sign of the apocalypse. A young girl, maybe eleven or twelve years old, walking by with a Victoria’s Secret bag. I wanted to throw up.

- I have bought two new beta fish! I will update with pictures of them from home.

- Assassin’s Creed is hot. Mmmm. Sharp knifed, white cloaked, smoking hot assassin death from above. *fangirl*

I know there was something else I wanted to update on, but I’ve forgotten what it was. Eh, oh well, fodder for later.

I feel sick to my stomach.

I was going to clean out the In-Box for our corporate service email and came across not just one, no, but TWO junk letters from "priests" talking about how The Golden Compass was written "by a god-hating British atheist who wants children to kill god" and advising parents not to take their children to the movie. Normally that would just make me chuckle and shake my head (remember how my mother didn't let me read Harry Potter in middle school?) but the fact that there are enough of these emails going around for my company to get two of them in the span of a half an hour makes me want to punch someone.

Why are people retarded?!

*fume*

[Edit] Of course that's mostly true, but who doesn't want children to kill God with their minds these days? I mean, have you watched Dora the Explorer lately? She's like the new Friedrich Nietzsche!

Marvel vs. Capcom!

Why should you care?

Are you kidding me? This was like one of the best concepts in the world. It's almost like if... if... Square Enix and Disney got together! It's just too bad that I didn't think the execution was quite what I'd hoped for, but if you have a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, for god's sake, HOLD ON TO IT! It's worth like a bazillion dollars! Or $50-$100, depending on condition and what system it's for. You know.
